A New Road Safety Training Manual Each year 1.2 million men, women and children around the world lose their lives as a result of road traffic collisions. Though there are growing efforts throughout the world to prevent road traffic injuries, lack of trained personnel is a major barrier. The World Health Organization, in collaboration with the Transport Research and Injury Prevention Programme of the Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi, has developed Road traffic injury prevention: training manual to help train professionals working on road traffic injury prevention. The new manual is part of a series of training and evidence resources developed by the World Health Organization. It is designed for a multidisciplinary audience, in a format that can contribute towards strengthening capacity to prevent road traffic injuries. The manual provides critical information and skills for a number of traffic safety elements such as data collection and analysis, risk factors, evidence-based prevention strategies, post-crash care delivery, collaboration, and road safety policy development and implementation. The manual can be used in a variety of teaching situations throughout the world. |
