New Child Safety Good Practice Guide We often receive emails from parents, teachers, and community leaders asking us about what works in preventing head injuries. The European Child Safety Alliance has just published a “Good Practice Guide” that examines child safety practice strategies that are known to work or have a high probability of success. One strategy is, of course, the use of helmets. Arranged by injury category and the 3 Es (engineering, enforcement and education) the guide allows readers to quickly identify evidence-based good practice and best investments for having a real impact on childhood injury. The guide also provides practical advice on strategic and action planning for unintentional injury prevention and safety promotion and stresses the importance of taking the time to address transferability issues prior to final selection of strategies. You can access the guide by clicking here (pdf format).
